Monday, May 29

  • Apologies - forgot to post this blog until now!
  • Grade 5 students need to be at RVP tomorrow morning at 6:40 as we will take attendance, then load the bus shortly after for our 7:00 a.m. departure. Students need to bring a lunch, water, light coat, red duotang and pencil in a backpack. Also, students can chat with an adult about the option of bringing an appropriate amount of spending $ for a possible purchase at the museum gift shop or snack.
  • Grade 4 students will come to RVP at the usual time, line up at the outside door to the library and check in with Mrs. Peters before heading to your classroom for the day. You will be helping the younger students as well as completing the work assigned by Ms. Ferguson.
  • Social Studies tests went home today.
  • No wordstudy this week
  • My Sports Day team colour for this Friday is _________________.

Friday, May 26

  • Music - I need my recorder and duotang here  on Monday as music is rescheduled for this day only.
  • Sports Day is next Friday. I will find out my team t-shirt colour on Monday, whether it is blue, red, green or white.

Thursday, May 25

  • Social Studies - The test on government and the provincial election is tomorrow afternoon.
  • Yeah, it's Freezie Friday tomorrow. This is our last fundraiser for the Gr 5 fieldtrip to Victoria.

Tuesday, May 23

  • Friday's wordstudy and math update went home today.
  • There is no wordstudy or math update this week, however there is a Social Studies test about government and the provincial election on Friday. I have brought home my duotang and study guide today. 
  • A reminder to all students that are attending the District Track meet tomorrow, to please be in the RVP gym at 7:50 wearing your RVP t-shirt (if you have one).

Thursday, May 18

  • The Wordstudy test tomorrow is on the use of the apostrophe. Also the math update tomorrow will be on arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Thank you to all of the parents that are volunteering on our May 30th Grade 5 fieldtrip to Victoria. 

Tuesday, May 16

  • Language Arts - If I need additional research for my speech, I need to be collecting this information at home.
  • District Track meet - Permission forms for some students to attend the meet went home today and are due back on Thursday.

Monday, May 15

  • Wordstudy - Assignment is due on Thursday and test is on Friday. Last week's test and arithmetic update went home today.
  • Music - Recorders and duotangs here for tomorrow's music class please.

Friday, May 12

  • The deadline for Scholastics orders is this Monday.
  • Grade 5 - Orders for the regular and/or silly photos are due on Monday.
  • Music - Continued daily practice will help prepare us for our performance in June.

Thursday, May 11

  • Yeah, it's Freezie Friday tomorrow! It's $2.00 for a jumbo and $1.00 for a small freezie. All profit goes towards the Gr 5 fieldtrip to Victoria later this month.
  • Math - There will be four arithmetic questions on the back of the wordstudy test tomorrow, so I should review my adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.

Tuesday, May 9

  • Grade 5 - It's helpful if you return your Victoria fieldtrip permission form as soon as possible.
  • RVP mini track meet is tomorrow morning. Please be here on time as we start promptly. A reminder to wear appropriate gym clothes and shoes, and bring water. 
  • Language Arts - We start working on our speeches this Thursday.
  • Social Studies - Who will win the BC provincial election?

Monday, May 8

  • Wordstudy and math update (pink 1/2 page) went home today.
  • This week's wordstudy assignment is due on Thursday and the test is on Friday.
  • The last Scholastics order of the year went home today. The deadline for orders is next Monday May 15th.

Friday, May 5

  • For your information, we looked at rescheduling our mini track meet for early next week when the weather forecast is good, but there are scheduling conflicts (Mon - some Gr 3 students on a fieldtrip, Tues - Election Polling station in our gym), so we will do a sunshine dance and hope that Wednesday weather is good and we can have our mini track meet then.
  • Track and Field - Our mini meet was cancelled today. We will decide on Monday whether it will be on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Thursday, May 4

  • RVP mini track meet is scheduled for Friday morning. If rain, we will postpone until next week.
  • Social Studies - We will be voting in BC's Student Vote on Monday so I am busy learning about the political parties and their platforms, local candidates, and issues for this election. 

Tuesday, May 2

  • Science - Reminder that there is a quiz on digestion tomorrow.
  • Grade 5 permission forms for the fieldtrip to Victoria went home today and are due May 16th at the latest.
  • Art Workshop begins first thing on Thursday morning in our classroom.

Monday, May 1

  • Wordstudy - My assignment is due on Thursday and my test is on Friday.
  • Math - Test about Time went home today.
  • Art - Please bring in $2.00 for Thursday's art workshop.
  • Congratulation to Jacob and Zach for winning the TriCity News Design an Ad and to Pedram, Arrow, Jaci for winning the $25.00 giftcards to Coquitlam Centre.
